A&S Display
Calling all East Kingdom Artisans! It is time to let the populace in on all the hard work, research and creativity you have been involved in over the past year. We gather at Birka to enjoy the many vendors’, some of them sharing of their own crafts, and others of their generous supplies of materials for our pursuit of our arts. We have a longer period of time for display this year, you can bring your creations on Friday evening and leave them until Saturday at 4PM or Sunday until 11AM. Doors to the display will be locked between the viewing periods, and there will be volunteers in the room to oversee your art’s safety when viewing is open. Bring your projects to display even if you have presented them to your local groups as Birka has a larger attendance than any other event short of Pennsic, so it will be new to someone(s)! We love to see your examples of early attempts that eventually led to the piece you are presenting now.
A&S Consultations
The Ministry of Arts & Sciences will be offering consultations for those displaying their work at Birka (currently, the A&S Display is scheduled for 9am-4pm on Saturday 1/25). If you are interested in consulting with someone at this Event, please contact us by emailing the Consultation Deputy <moas.consult@eastkingdom.org> with “Birka A&S Consultation” in the subject line.
The Consultation Service of the A&S Ministry can help artisans in several ways:
- pairing you with a consultant knowledgeable in your particular art or craft to help you develop your skills
- helping you find more information on the way your art or craft was practiced in the SCA’s period of interest
- advice or feedback on displaying your work (in person or online) to show your work to its best advantage
- advice on preparing to enter future competitions and using scoring rubrics
In addition, we are always looking for experienced artisans who are willing to be consultants. We can provide support or the opportunity to shadow an experienced consultant, if needed. Helping out newer artisans can be very rewarding, and you will get to meet more people in our Kingdom who share your interests. If you are interested in being a consultant, please fill out this form to let us know: https://forms.gle/aPNnLXTyu9FqDyJh8
Thank you so much for your time.
